Spy vs Spy reset on Press Start

It is impossible to reach the main menu of Spy vs. Spy. If you press any button at the "Press Start" screen, the display corrupts then the game resets. Attract mode works, but pressing start there freezes the game. Can someone confirm? Is it my device/rom?
